The Lady Baron tennis team continued their winning ways, picking up their first Presidents’ Athletic Conference championship title and fifth NCAA tournament appearance in the program’s history.
The Lady Barons fell in the first round at the NCAA tourney to the College of New Jersey 5-0.
“This team is special,” says coach Scott Greve. “They fought through the adversity of COVID. In the championship, we didn’t have our entire lineup, but these ladies never gave up. I am honored to be their coach!”
With a 16-19 record, the Baron Baseball team qualified for post-season play in the PAC Baseball Championship Tournament.
The achievement comes in the first year of baseball’s return to play since 2011.
While the Barons lost in the opening round to St. Vincent College, 13-4, eight players received All-PAC honors including first baseman Joshua Costello who arguably had the best season of all-time by a Franciscan batter. He held a .423 batting average, which was the third best amongst all PAC players this season, and he led the Barons in slugging percentage (.654), on base percentage (.490), RBIs (42), doubles (15), home runs (5), and total bases (85).
